Numrah Shaikh
Founder and Baker
Numrah Shaikh is the founder of Nums Yums. Her friends call her Num or Nums - hence, Nums Yums. She is a 23 year old baking queen who grew up in Maryland. By day she is a financial analyst, by night her home kitchen is the hub for this small local business. Her passion for baking began just a couple of years ago. The cakes she made for her friends’ birthdays lead her to pursue baking a month after graduating college, Nums Yums then officially launched in January of 2020. As a self taught baker, she continues to open herself up to new learning experiences. She teaches herself new recipes and techniques, experiments with unique flavors and strives to create the perfect products for her clients. Numrah also loves to cook and is an avid yogi with a heart for dubstep music; she loves to show parts of who she is in her baked goods. Her ultimate dream is to open a storefront for Nums Yums!
Paula Monterroso
Marketing Intern
Paula Monterroso is the marketing intern at Nums Yums. She is a 24 year old DACA recipient from Guatemala City and strives to work hard in the name of DREAMERS. She has a passion for art, design and flowers and helped launch her family owned online floral business, House of Blossoms, in October of 2020. She also runs an art page dedicated to commissions and hand-made cards. Her newly acquired knowledge from her own business ventures will be utilized towards the Nums Yums brand, while our founder helps her polish those skills. Paula loves gift-giving and dreams of creating a stationary/gift-giving service for people with different interests to feel seen and people with different backgrounds to feel loved. As a Nums Yums team member, she hopes to create more personable ways for clients to connect with our business. Paula also has a fondness for neo-soul and R&B, misses her alone time at the gym and enjoys watching anime and getting tattooed in her free time.
